Nick Heath, Creative Director - 04 - 12 - 15
Staff In The Spotlight
Nick, our Creative Leader, has been with Identity for just over a year and we’re pleased to put him in the spotlight. Nick is a fantastic creative, bringing awards-winning design to the team (no lie - many awards this year!) and has really elevated the department's creative flair. With Nick at the creative helm our design services rival that of any inner-city agency.
Nick was born in Leicester in the late seventies and later moved to Rutland (which, by the way, is the smallest county in Britain). Nick always had a keen interest in design and things looking just right - if it wasn’t his immaculate finger paintings at school then it was his colour-coded shelves of books at home!
Nick went on to study Graphic Design at Leeds University and learned the science behind design. After mastering the why and the how he moved to Harrigate and got his first job as a Graphic Designer for Wolseley UK. At Wolseley he gained a strong understanding and appreciation for the balance between design and commercial awareness. After several years in Harrigate the creative lure of Brighton was too strong for Nick and he relocated, taking up the position of Junior Designer at an agency called Zero51.
Nick spent 10 good years at Zero51 where he rose through the ranks, finishing as Creative Director and looking after his own team of designers.
Nick joined Identity as Creative Director in 2014. His new ambition is to make Identity an indispensable partner, providing excellence and creativity to every job, whilst delivering business success and growth for both new and existing clients. Nick brings a proven and unique blend of print-based and digital design skills to Identity. He has more than a decade of agency experience which spans across a wide range of sectors for a vast array of major clients such as Philips, Williamson Tea, Coutts, Cats Protection and England Athletics. Taking a hands-on directional approach, he leads the creative output of Identity with vigour.
His ability to effortlessly deliver the same energy, professionalism and commitment to every brief, combining both intellect and understanding will ensure that Identity’s impressive portfolio is recognised as one of the best in the business. A true creative at heart, he loves what he does, especially working with talented people, producing great work and never settling for second best.
Nick is married to a teacher and is a very proud father to his three boys aged ten, nine and four. Nick is a real all-rounder and likes to get stuck in to most things. He has always been a keen sportsman and enjoys keeping fit. However, in this interview he has admitted that in more recent years his personal hobbies have been moved aside in favour of house renovation, garden improvements and a lot of Dad stuff (in particular watching his boys play football, which he loves very much). But he has still found time to make brew his own beer and make his own wine ready for Christmas.
